Production headers and the well join
Cumulative and latest production by producing entity, and the join that ties each header to its wells by API number.
- Headers

What it is
A production header summarizes an entity: first and latest month, months produced, cumulative oil, gas and water, latest volumes. Joined to wells on API10 and to units, it answers "what has this well or unit made, and is it still producing."
Refresh: the harvest runs nightly, but the upstream header high-water mark has stayed at 2026-06-30, so recent runs add no newer headers. Latest production month in the view is 2026-05. Monthly volumes month by month are not in this view; ask for them in the request and the reply says what we hold.
Primary key: EntityId, one row per producing entity.
Delivery
- API: filter by state, county, API number or update date; JSON pages with a cursor.
- Bulk files: Parquet, CSV or JSONL, one file set per state, with a manifest of row counts and checksums.
- Agent endpoint: the same rows behind an MCP tool, keyed per agent.
All three are set up for you after the scope is agreed. Read the docs.
Coverage by state
3,652,452 production headers in ds9_pdenheaders; the upstream header index held 4,700,690 at the census probe on 2026-10-07. The header harvest high-water mark is 2026-06-30.

The well to production join
Method: take each distinct API10 in ds9_wells; it matches when that API10 appears in the API list of any production header. 2,896,681 of 4,997,962 distinct well API numbers match (58.0%). Dry holes, permitted wells never drilled, injection wells and the header gap all lower the share; it is not a producing-well rate.

}The well row reports last production 2026-07; the header reports 2026-04. The two feeds are refreshed on different schedules. A delivery carries both, each with its own date, and does not pick one.

CurrOperName | text | Current operator of the entity |
Field, Formation | text | Field and producing formation |
FirstProdDate, LastProdDate | date | First and latest production month |
MonthsProduced | integer | Months with production |
LiqCum, GasCum, WtrCum | number | Cumulative liquids (bbl), gas (mcf), water (bbl) |
LatestLiq, LatestGas | number | Volumes for the latest reported month: liquids bbl, gas mcf |
Status | text | Entity status |
UpdatedDate | date | Last change upstream |
Known limits
- The view held 3,652,452 headers against an upstream index of 4,700,690 on 2026-10-07; a well without a header may still produce.
- Monthly volumes by month are not in the header view. Ask for them if you need a time series; the reply says what we hold.
- Lease-level headers in some states cover several wells; ApiList carries every API10 on the lease.
- Volumes are as reported to the state and are not reallocated or adjusted.
